Lot of books including : Ancient India The 8:47 train Journey to Cambodia, Khmer architecture Illustrated book with 175 figures and a map DELEGORGUE (Adulphe). Journey in Southern Africa, notably in the territory of Natal, in that of the Amazoulous and Makatisses Cafres and up to the Tropic of Capricorn, executed during the years 1838, 1839, 1840, 1841, 1842, 1843 & 1844. With an Introduction by M. Albert-Montémont. Paris : A. René et Cie, 1847. - 2 volumes in-8, half havana morocco with corners, spine decorated with gilt dots and 4 horizontal bands of morocco of different tones, untrimmed, cover and spine kept (modern binding). First edition of this work which constitutes one of the first great hunting trips in Africa (Thiébaud 258-259). The illustration includes a frontispiece portrait of the author by Grenier, 8 lithographed plates and 2 folding maps out of text. This copy is enriched with a letter from the author to the minister of agriculture and trade. It was at the time of the publication of the book, Laurent Cunin-Gridaine (1778-1859). Covers restored. Some foxing. Significant wetness to the first map. First edition dedicated to the actress Réjane, of this play first performed on the stage of the Théâtre du Vaudeville on April 17, 1901. One of 25 numbered copies on Hollande paper, in a lined binding by Marius Michel. Spine faded. Provenance: René Descamps-Scrive, with bookplate (III, 1925, n° 500).
