Important alabaster plaque sculpted in high relief with polychrome and gilding highlights representing the Crucifixion, central panel of an altarpiece probably dedicated to the Passion. The crucified Christ is framed by the two thieves, four angels around him collecting his blood in chalices; on the left, Mary Cleophas and Mary Magdalene support the Virgin with, above them, St. John, holding the palm that was given to him on the day of the Virgin's funeral, and Longinus with the spear; on the right are three soldiers and a bearded figure in armor, grasping the end of a phylactery in his left hand. England, Nottingham, last third of the 15th century Height : 47,8 cm - Width : 24,8 cm approximately In a wooden frame. Total height: 60.3 cm - Total width: 28 cm - Depth: 5.7 cm (slight accidents and missing parts) A very similar relief is kept in the Musée du Moyen Âge in Paris, but without the thieves (inv.
