François-Jean-Dominique Lange is a painter of Savoyard origin. He practiced his art in Turin where he was appointed drawing master of the Academy of the nobles and young princes of Carignan. He realized mainly portraits in chiaroscuro of the princes of the House of Savoy.
Escaping the siege of Turin in 1706, he settled in Bologna for good and attended the Clementine Academy under the direction of Franceschini. He was appointed member a few years later.
