TIBET - 20th century Two mandorla-shaped plaques made of clay and entirely lacquered in gold, decorated in high relief. One shows a lama seated in lalitasana, a relaxed posture, his left hand in dharmachakra mudra, his right hand in varada mudra, under a pipal tree and clouds, an altar decorated with auspicious objects at his side, a disciple at his feet reciting a prayer, and the three jewels (triratna) beneath his throne; for the other, of Raudrantaka (Trakshe in Tibetan), the slayer of Rudra, in fury before flames, seated on a galloping horse, holding his lasso in his right hand, at the end of which hangs a corpse which he pierces with his spear embellished with a skull, in his left hand.
