Damien Deroubaix is a French engraver and painter born in Lille on May 9, 1972.
Graduate of the regional school of fine arts in Saint-Étienne and the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe. He lives and works in Paris and Meisenthal after spending 9 years in Berlin.
In 2009, he was nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize. In his works on paper, Damien Deroubaix combines references from art (Dada, Francis Bacon, John Heartfield...) with the trash aesthetics and political ideology of grindcore bands. Voluntarily expressionist, his painting is made of monstrous figures and graphic and textual borrowings from metal and grindcore cultures.
In 2016, Picasso and I exhibition at Mudam with Nosbaum & Reding Gallery, Luxembourg.
