Beginning his career as a portrait painter in Montparnasse, Michel Audiard quickly detached himself from it to devote himself exclusively to sculpture. With a great interest in bronze, which he considers the absolute goal of all sculpture, Michel Audiard created his lost wax bronze foundry in 1978. He creates works as diverse as jewelry, pens, corkscrews ... which will give him an international media reputation since many heads of state or celebrities will be made gifts.
It is in the years 2000, that the artist engages his turn towards the animal sculpture with numerous series being devoted to them, such as the "Z' Animaux Musiciens" exposed to the Palais Garnier in Paris in 2013. The series "strata" of which the work we propose is part of his latest creations, alongside a monumental rhinoceros of 4.20m long and a "Bear, tribute to Pompon".
