Small cup in porcelain of China armoriée. Company of the Indies XVIIIth century. Dutch coat of arms of Wilhelm IV, prince of Orange-Nassau and commemorating his appointment on May 3, 1747 to the rank of hereditary Stadhouder General of the United Provinces. The motto "Honni soit qui mal y pense" inscribed on the coat of arms refers to the Order of the Garter to which Willem IV belongs (549th knight in 1733). The expression "bloeijmaand" refers to the month of May. A teapot with the same decoration is in the Royal Netherlands collections in The Hague. Ht : 7 cm. Klein versierd Chinees porseleinen kopje. 18th eeuwse Indische Compagnie. Nederlands wapen met het wapen van Wilhelm IV, Prins van Oranje-Nassau en ter herdenking van zijn benoeming op 3 mei 1747 tot de rang van Stadhouder Generaal Erfgenaam van de Verenigde Provinciën. Het motto "Honni soi qui mal y pense" op het wapen verwijst naar de Orde van de Kouseband waartoe Willem IV behoort (549e ridder in 1733). De uitdrukking "bloeijmaand" verwijst naar de maand mei. Een theepot met identieke decoratie bevindt zich in de Koninklijke Verzamelingen der Nederlanden in Den Haag. Height: 7cm.
