[COURTISANES] Delphine MARQUET, dancer and actress at the Théâtre du Gymnase. Vintage print on albumen paper, business card size, 10.5 x 6 cm. Courtesan, registered in the register of the Police des Mœurs under the number 331: "January 1873: Marquet Delphine, aged thirty-six, actress. She is a former dancer of the Opera, who left the dance, for the drama and the comedy and who played then at the Gymnase, where she had very little success. She has two younger sisters, one, Louise, is a dancer at the Opera, the other, Elisa, played for some time at the Porte Saint-Martin. Delphine is very pretty and very clever. For twelve years, she lived with Nestor Roqueplan, then with M. de Norzy whom she ruined, and who for her had left his wife and daughter. She also had very close relationships with the actor Dupuis, and with Anatole Lionnet. It is said that her worst association was with her mother, since she was driven to ruin all the men she met.
