[COURTISANES] Lea d'ASCO (mid 19th century), actress. Vintage silver print, cabinet card size, 16.5 x 11 cm. By NADAR. A great courtesan, listed in the register of the Police des Mœurs under number 495: "Girard Émilie, Victorine, aged twenty, born in Paris, known as Léa d'Asco. She is a former milliner, who worked on rue Richelieu n°106, and who today leads the life of a gallant woman and frequents the meeting houses. She recently had intimate relations with the Count of Brayer, at a pimp's house in the rue de Provence, who gave her ten louis for the price of her favors. She is maintained by the son Tronchon, whose father held a factory avenue d'Eylau. She is now called Léa d'Asco, and has just made her debut at the Salle Taitbout, where she has obtained a certain success. 15 May 1875 : Yesterday, she was at a pimp's house in the rue Blanche, where she had intimate relations with General Berthe. He gave her one hundred francs for the price of his favors.
