DAUM MAJORELLE. Exceptional gilded bronze wall light with six lights. Dim. 121 x 54 cm. (Two missing tulips) The collaboration between Daum and Majorelle was established in 1902. Many models are shown for the first time at the Exhibition of the Provincial Alliance of Art Industries ("Ecole de Nancy") held in 1903 at the Pavillon de Marsan in Paris. Our sconce does not appear in any catalog of the Majorelle company; it would thus be rather a model out of series, carried out on private order(s). We know that it was presented at the International Exhibition of Eastern France held in Nancy in 1909 and then, the following year, at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris. It should be noted that although we do not know the name of the model, this sconce is always associated with the "Orchids" furniture - particularly at the 1909 Salon where the Majorelle stand was devoted exclusively to this ornament.
