Michel JOUENNE was born in 1933 in Boulogne-Billancourt, and died in 2021 in Clamart.
He is a painter, illustrator, lithographer and sculptor. Appointed official painter of the Navy in 1991. He is part of this nursery of talent from the "young painters of the Fifties".
Famous painter considered as a master of figurative painting Michel Jouenne was also official painter of the Navy. Jouenne is a prolific artist, his works illustrate life, the natural beauty of our planet through landscapes filled with color. His canvases reveal the joy of his creation. He amazes with his opaque and translucent materials at the same time.
Michel Jouenne is known as much for his marine paintings as for his Mediterranean landscapes. Inspired by the monuments and streets of Paris, he remains a lover of the South of France. Today the museum in Marseille is a place dedicated to the artist and managed by the Michel Jouenne Foundation.
All his exhibitions bear witness to a creation that never gets old. He remains attached to the gray walls, the havens of silence of the rocks of Eygalières, Baux, Moustiers
He astonishes with his opaque and translucent materials at the same time, his large watercolor and truellate planes, the luminous, unctuous, porcelain shimmer. In each canvas, it is the joy of his creation of landscapes or seascapes: silent landscapes opposed to the roar of the waves. (Guy Vignot " Univers des Arts ").
Between 1973 and 2006, Michel Jouenne received many awards and medals, including the Gold Medal of Arts, Sciences and Letters, he was a knight of cultural and artistic merit and received the first prize for lithography.
