Provenance
The magnificent service called "agronomic" is described in the archives of the Manufacture de Sèvres "agate blue background, blue zone, frieze of gold palmettes, figures representing agronomic scenes etc.". It was presented at the Exhibition of the Products of Industry in the Louvre on December 27, 1832 under the n°25, then on May 1, 1835 under the n°20, and entered the store of sale of Sevres on October 18, 1834.
It was bought on credit by Prince Ferdinand-Philippe d'Orléans, Duke of Orléans (1810-1842), eldest son of King Louis-Philippe, in December 1837 (Arch. Sèvres, Vbb9, 72). This complete dessert service included several pieces of shapes and was originally composed of 48 plates, at the high cost of 175 frs each. It was restocked with 13 dinner plates on 12 December 1837. On August 22, 1842, 36 plates are delivered to the baron of Rothschild (Vz6, 103) then, in July 1848, 72 others are delivered to the General Cavaignac, chief of the executive power (Vbb11, 23 v°).
