He explains "Wall decoration and painting: two things that have nothing in common! That one paints with the fresco the walls of the public monuments, town halls, theaters, stations, barracks etc. But let the paintings decorate our homes! The mural decoration for apartments seems to me contrary to the sense of intimacy One likes to change the paintings of place to draw from it under a new day of new pleasures; with walls what to make?
