Jean Baptiste Baillon, listed in Le Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, Tardy, p. 21, was considered one of the best of his time. In 1751, he was appointed watchmaker to Queen Marie Leczinska, then watchmaker and head valet to the dauphine, Marie-Antoinette. The Tardy also mentions a watch similar to the one here: "an enamelled watch with a coloured flower basket decoration signed Baptiste Baillon".
