[RECTIFICATION] FÉNELON (François de Salignac de La Mothe). The Adventures of Telemachus, son of Ulysses. Paris, De l'imprimerie de Monsieur, 1785. 2 volumes large in-4, havane Russian leather, spines decorated with gilt fillets, bronze morocco title-pieces, double gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt edges (period binding). A small number of copies printed on Annonay wove paper and decorated with the beautiful suite engraved after the drawings of Charles Monnet, painter to the King, by J. B. Tilliard in 1773. The illustration is composed of 24 engraved plates (intermediate titles decorated with culs-de-lampe) and 72 engraved figures out of text in first edition. Spine worn, one corner dull, light scattered foxing, slight traces of wetness in places in volume II. Apart from these minor defects, a fine copy, well bound and with good engravings. (Cohen, 384.) Attached is an interesting autograph letter from the engraver J.B. AND 13 ARE MISSING: page 10 has been printed a second time on the back of page 11 and page 15 has been printed a second time on the front of page 14 ]]]]]
