Charles CAMOIN (1879-1965) "Nude back leaning on a tree, circa 1960" oil on canvas signed on the lower right. On the reverse side, the inscription "5.47 Catal. 1120". 47 x 27 cm (re-oiled) With certificate of L. Ch. It would date from the 1960s and not from 1947 A student of Gustave Moreau for a few months, Charles Camoin met Albert Marquet in his studio in 1898 and then Henri Matisse. He participated in the 1905 Autumn Salon, which marked the beginning of Fauvism. Privileging pure color, Camoin's Fauvism is nevertheless tempered by the influence of Cézanne. After his meeting with Auguste Renoir in 1918, his style softened and tended towards a more classical form. The female nude has always been one of his favorite themes, as shown in this work
