ADDENDUM: French school of the 18th century. Soufflot's Agency: Project for the Sainte-Geneviève Church ///
French school of the 18th century.
Church project: elevation.
Pen and India ink over black pencil lines, grey and brown wash.
28.5 × 37.2 cm.
(Formerly folded in four, some foxing, pasted in full on its old mounting).
Provenance: former Bizemont Prunelé collection, its stamp in the lower right corner.
This project seems to correspond to Soufflot's first research for the Sainte-Geneviève church around 1757. It is close to an engraving by Charpentier that shows a project by Soufflot (see "Soufflot et l'architecture des Lumières", Cahiers de la recherche architectural, 1980, Michel Petzet, fig.8, p.18)
