Work of 1767.
Beautiful casting made at the end of the 19th century.
Bronze with light and dark brown patina.
H. 47,5 cm Base. 16 x 17 cm
Counter base in natural wood.
It bears the founder's stamp : B. Cuisinier.
This mark is often found
without having allowed to discover the author.
Reference:
- The original in marble sculpted by Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain
in 1767 is kept in the Louvre museum, inventory number :
MR 1747. It is also called "La baigneuse".
It was commissioned in 1755 by the Marquis de Marigny
(1727-1781) for the castle of Choisy-Le-Roi (Val-de-Marne).
