MODEL ATTRIBUTED TO THE WORKSHOP OF JEAN-JOSEPH DE SAINT-GERMAIN (1719-1791) IMPORTANT CLOCK WITH COMPLICATIONS AND MUSIC CLOCK CALLED "WITH A COUPLE OF MUSICIANS". France around 1750. Chased and gilded bronze. H. 81,5 cm L. overall. 55 cm Dep. 32 cm Missing the balance wheel. Triple stamp. Mechanism to be restored and completed. Missing elements concerning the music. Some wear to the gilding. Under the door of the dial and on a rocaille background, a couple of musicians play the violin for the man and the flute for the woman. for the woman. They play following a score placed on a rockery between them. a rockery between them. On the damping, a young girl is on a rocky mound and on each side of the dial is a bust of a is in bust a love holding a stick and seems to beating the measure. These two loves are found on a large clock of the by the Saint-Germain workshop but with an apocryphal signature, sold at Artcurial on 20 May 2019, sale n° 3872, lot n° 33. There is no name on the dial or mechanism. The curved dial indicates the complications of this movement: the date (window on the dial) under the XII has disappeared, as the quarter chime. The two small discs on each side of the crescent with a metal the crescent with a metal hand control the silence or the march of the of the hours and the music box. The actual mechanism seems to have been brought back. The plate with engraved with foliage is from the same period but not original.
