Exceptional large flat desk, ebony, ebony veneer, stained wood and bronze attributed to François LIEUTAUD. The top is lined with old waffle leather and is encircled by a lingotière with a beak of corbin and rests on four arched feet. It opens with three drawers in the belt and is richly decorated with gilded bronzes: lingotière, shoulder clasps on the feet, mascarons on the sides of the belt (later), acanthus leaves on the falls, and the encedrement of drawers. H: 80 cm, L: 197 cm, W: 95 cm (missing some brass rods)
Our desk is almost identical to those stamped "FL" and kept in the Ansbach Residenz as well as to those kept in the king's room of the Bamberg Residenz in Munich.
It is also similar to a desk stamped "NG" for Noel Gérard kept at the Toledano Museum of Art, as well as to a desk kept at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal in Paris, in the room of the Duchess of Maine.
