STATUTE OF IBIS lying down. Chiseled bronze, inlaid garnet eyes. The tail plumage rendered by incisions. Ancient Egypt, Late Period (664 - 332 B.C.) or Ptolemaic Period (332 - 30 B.C.) Height : 12,5 cm - Width : 17 cm (Missing a finger) On a mahogany base. Very beautiful statuette representing an Ibis Threskiornis aethiopicus at rest. The bird is elegant. The finely incised details, the quality of the cast iron with the right proportions and the eyes inlaid with garnet cabochons are all elements that testify to the care taken in the work. This statuette distinguishes itself by its quality from models close in typology. PROVENANCE Former collection L. acquired by descent.
