Born in Chouzy (Loir-et-Cher) on October 26, 1874, he was a student of Gustave Moreau, Théobald Chartran, Albert Maignan. Member of the Committee of the National Society of Fine Arts, he won twice the Troyon prize of the Institute (1895 and 1897). He exhibited at the French Artists from 1892 to 1902, at the National Society of Fine Arts from 1902 and took part in exhibitions in Barcelona (1912), Chicago (1919), Wiesbaden (1920), Amsterdam (1926), Brussels and Tokyo (1928). He was named Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1930.
