A STUCCO FIGURE OF BUDDHA, GANDHARA
Ancient region of Gandhara, Hadda style, 3rd-4th century. Seated in dhyanasana with the hands lowered in dhyanamudra, wearing a monastic robe cascading in voluminous folds, the serene face with heavy-lidded eyes below arched brows, a prominent nose, and full lips flanked by long pendulous earlobes, the hair pulled up into a topknot. Mounted to a recent base.
Condition: With notches, material loss, repairs, and traces of age and wear. Remnants of old pigment.
