L.A.S. "Emmanuel Chabrier", [La Membrolle] November 27, 1893, [to Émile CHEVALET]; 2 oblong pages in-12. He is in Touraine with his wife, at his mother-in-law's house: "Here I am like a rooster in dough; I take advantage of it to work like a negro, my health is excellent; I have plenty of time to return to this good city of Paris where people think I am in an alarming state (I am a puffi ste, quite simply)". He evokes the performance of the overture of Gwendoline by Lamoureux (on November 12 and 19): "I had never had such ovations; it is in the opera that one had to make a pif, hein!" He could not attend "the beautiful session of the blind", but would like to "hear the Ode to music" during another audition...
