Rare cabinet in polychrome lacquered wood and gold highlights, opening with two doors
revealing seven compartments and three drawers, the front and sides decorated with a panoramic
of a panoramic view: a stream with bocage banks, fields,
rice fields, and in the background thatched cottages framed by mountains,
The interior is black lacquered, the base in black lacquered scrolls and enhanced with gold.

Provenance:
Acquired in the early 1940s by Mr. C., director between 1922 and 1946 of the
company Louis Ogliastro et Cie (Saigon, Hanoi and Haï Phong) to whom Joseph
Inguimberty presents the work of the artist.
Mr. C. brought back this cabinet on his final return to France in 1946.

Vietnamese lacquer artist settled in Hanoi, LE QUOC LOC graduated in 1942 from
of the Superior School of Fine Arts of Indochina, section on the technique and art of
lacquer. A member of the Viet Minh during the war of independence, the work of Lê Quoc Loc
evokes both poetry and resistance. He perfectly masters the traditional technique of lacquer
of lacquer and is recognized for having developed the fine arts industry in Vietnam. He is considered
considered one of the greatest Vietnamese master lacquerers today.
