MILO MANARA An Indian Summer, Casterman 1987 Original plate n°67, prepublished in Corto n°5 in January 1986. Phylacteries glued in the bubbles in box n°2 and n°6. India ink on paper 48 × 62.3 cm (18.9 × 24.53 in.) An Indian Summer was a moment of grace in Manara's career, as he worked together with Hugo Pratt, one of the comic geniuses of his time. The influence of the Venetian master can be seen in these pages. First in the management of time, magnificently illustrated in this shooting in the center of the page, then in the graphics, almost abstract, as in the treatment of the vegetation - and this, next to very realistic elements, such as the well, the bucket, the fence... Is this due to Pratt's storyboard, who drew his scenarios quite precisely, or to a lasting influence of the author of Corto Maltese? We lean towards the second hypothesis.
