Serge Pellé, who came from advertising, made a notable splash with the Orbital series scripted by Sylvain Runberg. His images are highly legible: Pellé masters direct color to perfection with his pencil backgrounds, sometimes enhanced with gouache, acrylic paint, or even oil pastel. Here, the heroine is drawn in ink, on a background of pencil lines and watercolor. The scene evokes the urban jungles of Philip K. Dick or Moebius, notably John Difool's dive to the acid lake in the beginning of The Black Incal, a scene to which this cover probably pays homage.
