Here again, we find the influence of Gustave Doré, who knew how to lose the reader in large black contrasting landscapes, very fashionable in romantic illustration. Plessix takes up the canons in this play of light and shadow, with masses subtly modeled in graphite. The characters confronted with the immensity of this cave remind us how little the small beings that we are weigh in the face of the power of nature.
