Nice version of Manet's Déjeuner sur l'herbe by Michel Plessix. In this illustration, the author portrays the main characters of the novel The Wind in the Willows, a classic of children's literature written by Kenneth Grahame and published in 1908, for which he was drawing the third volume (of four) of the comic book adaptation at the time. We are here in the presence of an author who is part of the great classic line of French illustration, based on a fairly high horizon and a fluid perspective: "When I was a child, I was fascinated by the drawings of Albert Dubout. He gave great importance, in his drawings, to the crowds and the multitude." You can feel the influence here.
