France. Lot of 40 prehistoric cut flint tools, most of them with inscriptions or old labels stuck on. A more recent label associated with the lot reads "purchased from Monsieur FREMONT, foire aux puces - St Ouen, marché Vernaison, le 11/5/75". Provenances listed include Solers, L'Hay and Chevilly. These objects seem to come from the collection of Paul Leclerc, a member of the French Prehistoric Society who devoted articles to these sites before his death in 1930. This is certain for one of them, a "bilateral notched saw" that is represented in fig. 4 of pl. III of his article on Solers, p. 334. Four other objects with labels indicate "Coll L. Feltz" and the origins of Saint-Germer (Oise), Gilet (Lot & Garonne), Ymeray (Eure & Loir). Neolithic period (c. 5600-2000 B.C.) and earlier. L. max. 10 cm.
Louis Feltz was a member of the French Prehistoric Society in the mid-twentieth century.
