Posthumous poems by Philothée O'Neddy (Théophile Dondey). Paris, Charpentier, 1877; in-12, Russian leather, spine and boards cold-stamped, decorated edges and inner border, gilt head, untrimmed (Pouillet).
First edition.
It is preceded by a long biographical note written by Ernest Havet, fellow student of the poet.
The collection includes Visions d'un mort-vivant, Miranda, a dramatic poem in three acts, and sonnets and elegies written over thirty years.
One of the first 10 numbered copies on China paper, number 1. It contains two added pieces, a portrait of the author in the form of a photographic print pasted on the frontispiece, and an autograph sonnet dedicated to his sister "thanks to my sister" (reproduced on page 187).
Beautiful copy, in contemporary binding. Some foxing.
