Autograph manuscript in a tight handwriting related to Paul et Virginie, which had a considerable success. This novel was published in 1788, in the fourth volume of his studies of nature, then in a separate volume in 1789.
The first sentence of the childhood of Paul and Virginie begins with : Already their mothers spoke of marriage on their cradles.
In this manuscript... "all the other young girls saw that their companions ran to them crying... you are so many that your boat could not carry you all"...
