Our painting is an autograph reproduction (without the camel) of the door top painted by Carle Van
Loo for the large salon of Jacques Samuel Bernard in his hotel on the rue du Bac, between 1741 and 1745,
now in Jerusalem, The Israel Museum (inv. 171.69). See catalog of the exhibition Carle
