First edition of this very complete anonymous dictionary which contains all recipes for cooking, pastry, confectionery, distillation; the articles on eggs are very numerous. Several "medicinal observations" conclude the recipes. According to the false title, this work can "serve as a sequel to the Dictionnaire domestique"; first published in 1762 and republished several times, the Dictionnaire domestique is attributed by Barbier to Aubert de La Chesnaye des Bois, Jean Goullin and Auguste Roux. Vicaire therefore suggests that this Dictionnaire portatif is the work of one or all three of these authors. Small gilt number at the foot of the spine: V H. Some foxing.
