Algeria, 19th century Set of jewelry consisting of a pair of earrings, a belt buckle and an ornamental hook. - Pendants from the Aures region, in silver, coral and glass beads, from the Chaouïas tribe. The buckles were hung in the veils of women at the level of the ears. The shape of the charms in "camel leg" is a sign of prosperity. These motifs were repeated in the ornaments that constituted the dowry, in order to solicit a happy and fertile marriage. Punched. H. from 15 to 21 cm. P. B. : 197g. - Belt buckle in cast and openwork metal, gilded, with square slide enclosing the hinge whose pin is surmounted by a rooster motif. L. 11.5 cm Silver plate low title cast to day. - Hook of ornament of the region of Sétif, out of openwork silver, being used to support at the top of the head the earrings.
