"I wish René Char to be out of the suffering he had to endure and I also wish that penicillin would leave him completely. This marvelous drug has had consequences for me that I am not yet free of [...]. As for my protest about your article on Bonnard, I will add that I have known him all my life [...] as he said himself, he is between Impressionism and Fauvism, because he did not want to be given a role he did not deserve. [...] For me he is already one of the great painters. [...] I am still here and working..."
