TARTAN by Martin Gore Delta Machine World Tour, 2013 Two framed pieces. Designer: Sara Freegard. Each costume offered has the traces of its use on stage (wear, sweat, makeup) and, in addition to the guarantee of the creators and/or directors, testifies that it was indeed worn, unless otherwise stated. In 2013, the Delta Machine World tour accompanies the release of the 13th album of Dépêche Mode. It bears the name of Delta Machine. Designer Sara Freegard explains that her inspiration came from punk fashion - fusion metal trend. The idea was to create a tartan that was both classic and cool: "I wanted to celebrate the cool, sexy, edgy and dark shades of Depeche Mode combined with the punk rock ethos." She then called on Sir Tom Baker for the cut and tartan maker Kirsty McDougall of Dashing tweeds to make the suit. She says of the choice of materials, "We used leather and silver lurex inlaid with black thread and Klein blue to achieve an exceptionally high quality glossy finish, a vibrant neon blue. The addition of a reflective weave allowed for a theatrical effect as the suit reflected the stage lights."
