Charming epistles to the Perriquet sisters.
[Marie PERRIQUET (1624-1668), the youngest of the Perriquet sisters, a learned woman, was a friend of Conrart, Paul Pellisson, Blaise Pascal, and the scholar Christian Huygens. Her older sister was named Geneviève (1623-1659)].
To Blessed Sister Marie Perriquet: for the solemnity of her feast day, Candlemas Day (sizain):
"Savant & genereuse Vierge,
If I dare to offer you a candle
According to the use of this day ".
To Miss Perriquet the elder, on her earache. Stanzas (4 sizains), with erasures and corrections in the second stanza:
"They say everywhere, rare wonder,
That you have an earache
Which prevents you from resting".
Attached is a P.S. on vellum, November 15, 1651: receipt of a quarter of wages as counselor secretary to the King and his Finances.
