Claudel", 1927-1932, to François MONOD; 2 oblong pages in-8 on the letterhead of the French Embassy in Japan with envelope, and 1 page in-8 on the letterhead of the Château de Brangues (small split). Amusing letter from Japan about his possible candidacy to the Academy. January 8, 1927. He has not forgotten his reception in Washington. "As for the Academy - it is usually enough for one Academician to die to have a chance, but for me it would take thirty-two or thirty-three! In particular, I could only enter under the dome over the corpse of the brave DOUMIC! It would be too sad! Brangues September 6, 1932. He received his complaint against Mr. Bascom Slemp, and transmits it to the chargé d'affaires in Washington L'Académie française au fil des lettres, p. 278-279.
