Lyon 7 September in the evening [1632], to M. de RODES. On the defeat of Henri II de Montmorency before the royal troops commanded by Henri de Schomberg at Castelnaudary (September 1). He received confirmation of the news from M. de SCHOMBERG: "the misfortune of Mr. de MONTMORENCY is greater than we believed, he was taken with eight musket shots of which one pierces the collar the other enters him in the mouth and leaves him behind the head. The brother of the countess of Moret was taken with him. The counts of Moret, of Rieux, of La Feuillade, and the sr. of St Florent killed and several others of lesser substance" He sends him "verses of which Monseigneur [RICHELIEU] was very satisfied, I have obligations without number he made me prior of Ferté sur Aube". Meinières June 2, to Denis CHARPENTIER, counselor and secretary of the King and first secretary of His Eminence [Richelieu]. He sends his lackey back to him to get news of him, "and of Mgr. Without that I would not know how to live and if His Excellency does not soon have pity on me you will learn that I will be dead" He signs: "Boisrobert abbé de Chatillon".
