PARIS 1635. ABBEY OF MONTMARTRE. Piece signed " Sister Marie de BEAUVILLIERS, Abbess and Lady of MONTMARTRE and of the PONT-AUX-DAMES (77), in Paris on September 25, 1635. (Transcription attached). Receipt of six thousand livres tournois for a due quarter of rent constituted on the Clergy of France. Vellum (12 x 19). Marie de BEAUVILLIERS, who was Abbess of Montmartre from 1596 to 1657, died at the age of 83 after having governed the Abbey for nearly 60 years. She was the cousin of Gabrielle d'Estrées, mistress and favorite of Henri IV.
