CHOISEUL (Étienne-François de). Memoirs of M. the duke of Choiseul. A Chanteloep [sic] et à Paris, chez Buisson, 1790. In-12, 311 p., speckled tan basane, smooth spine decorated, red title page, gilt supra-libris, red edges, (head cover and cuts rubbed, some epidermis on the boards). First public edition of the Mémoires du Duc de Choiseul, based on the one he had printed in 1778 at Chanteloup, in a very small number for his entourage. Usually found in an in-8° format, this version in an in-12 volume is rare and could be a forgery. Provenance: Gabriel-Pierre-Isidore de Guillaumanches-Duboscage (1766-1836), born in the castle of Perrier in 1766, marquis de Boscage, lieutenant-colonel of the regiment of dragoons of Kinebourne, and officer of the staff of the army of field marshal Souworow, in 1794, 1795 and 1796, previously senior officer of the bodyguards of the king of France, and colonel of his cavalry. He died in Nice in 1836 (gilt supra-libris).
