1969 - Fiat 850 Sport Spider Dutch registration Chassis number 0037455 - Elegant configuration - Very good presentation condition - Mini Ferrari! The Fiat range of the mid 1960s consisted of the small 600, and the larger 1100. To fill the gap between these two models, an intermediate base named 850 is presented in 1964, first as a 4-seater family sedan. The famous design office of the designer Bertone revises in turn the 850 and creates a small Spider, which will be presented at the Geneva Show 1965 next to a coupe version whose line is signed by the Centro Stile of Fiat. The little Spider Fiat was an immediate success in Europe, but also in the United States where it was nicknamed Little Ferrari. In 1968, the second series of the 850 is presented and some improvements are made, including an increase in engine capacity, now peaking at 903 cc, and stylistic changes on the bodywork. The Fiat 850 we are presenting is part of the second series. Its current state of presentation testifies to the extensive restoration it has undergone in recent years. Cosmetically, its paint is in very good condition, and the Abarth-like rims that equip it are of the most beautiful effect. Wishing to go on long trips, the former owner also added a luggage rack on the rear hood. The interior is in a nice condition, the Abarth style steering wheel was redone in 2020, the floor mats are nice, the hood looks new and it is easy to handle. The only drawback is that the seats have aged badly and would deserve some extra care to offer the comfort we expect from them. Mechanically, the car works very well: the restoration of the engine, the braking system, the suspensions and the gearbox have been done at the beginning of the year 2021. Our test drive confirmed that the car is really pleasant and fun to drive, the engine is smooth while remaining responsive, the gearbox is easy to handle, the brakes are efficient... It is still possible to afford an Italian spider with character at a reasonable budget. Notice to the amateurs.
