1971 - Porsche 911 2.2 E French registration Chassis number 9111200787 Important restoration Matching numbers Superb configuration Appeared at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the concept of the Porsche 911 then called 901, fruit of the imagination of "Butzi" Porsche, the son of Ferry Porsche, was marketed in 1964. The first version of this 2+2 coupé, with its characteristic receding roofline, was equipped with a new 2-liter flat six engine developing 130 horsepower. It was only two years later, at the 1966 Paris Motor Show, that the 911 S was presented, a truly sporty version of the 911 with its 2-liter aluminum engine increased to 160 horsepower and its famous Fuchs rims. But in 1967, a whole range of models was launched with the "T", the "2L" and the "S", all with the same 2-litre flat 6 engine but with different power ratings. Two years later, the displacement increases to 2.2 liters. The 911 E, positioned above the "T", now delivers 155 horsepower thanks to fuel injection. It was equipped with an aluminum engine cover and its road holding was improved thanks to the addition of stabilizer bars, four disc brakes and a new steering box. The range will continue to evolve with its T, E and S variants according to successive increases in displacement. The Porsche 911 appeared in 1964. Equipped with a 6-cylinder air-cooled engine and a 5-speed gearbox, the models contribute year after year to the myth of the serious, functional and efficient sports car. The Porsche 911 2.2 E we present was delivered on March 3rd 1971 in Germany. It has benefited from an extensive restoration between 2016 and 2018. As a result, it is now in its original configuration with a light ivory body paired with a black interior. It is equipped with beautiful black and gray Fuchs wheels that add a touch of sportiness. Under the hood is the 2.2L flat 6 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, both matching numbers. The car is accompanied by an important file of invoices tracing all the steps of its restoration. This magnificent car, now in concours condition and in its original configuration, deserves the full attention of the most discerning collectors.
