John Cooper, manufacturer of Formula 1 and rally cars, saw its potential and suggested to its creator Alec Issigonis to produce a more developed version. The management of the BMC group gave the green light and the two men cooperated to produce a sporty and economical Mini Cooper. The Austin Mini Cooper and Morris Mini Cooper versions were marketed from 1961. In 1964, a new Mini Cooper called "S" is produced and is equipped with a 1 275 cm3 engine! It will become the darling of the races and the beautiful districts. This little bomb is the most desirable Mini among the countless versions produced until 2000. The Morris Cooper S we present is from 1966. In exceptional condition, it was prepared in Stage 3 configuration with forged pistons and a lightened flywheel. The gearbox is a Cooper S with 4 gears, equipped with a quick shift system with a right-hand pinion, the clutch is reinforced and the front suspensions are mounted with adjustable Koni. As for the brakes, Cooper S discs at the front and ventilated drums at the rear are in line with what was done in the period. The interior has also been carefully prepared with a 6-point roll bar, two buckets and 5-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher. As for the dashboard, it remains original with its sacrosanct central meter gathering the oil pressure and water temperature. Purchased in 2019 by its current owner, he will make some changes and improvements on the car. Installation of a horn, a choke control, carburetion adjustment, installation of a spare tire, etc... All this jjustified on invoices for a total amount of about 2 500 €. On the outside, the car is superb, mounted on its 10-inch Minilight.
