L.A.S. "Colette", [1946], to Jean COCTEAU; 2 oblong pages in-8 on water green paper. Beautiful letter about Beauty and the Beast, diary of a film. [When the film Beauty and the Beast was released in 1946, Cocteau published his Journal du film (J.B. Janin, 1946)]. "Dear Jean, I did not expect to be so moved when I read the Journal of your film. I thought I would taste the expected and the unexpected, the feverish work, the courage and the discouragement. But it turns out that you have written one of the most moving books of your work, and I am already rereading it. Emotion, emotion, the sanctity of work, the decision to suffer without giving up, how it all reaches my heart! One can stone you again, dear Jean, your flesh grows back, and your friends bear you a love without shadow. Maurice [Goudeket, her husband] has the flu. We both embrace you. I caress the beautiful sad face of The Beast. Take me to the movie and the play as soon as I can. Right now my leg is so sore"...
