L.A.S. "LF Céline", [Copenhagen] 20 [September 1947], to Charles DESHAYES in Lyon; 1 1/2 pages in-fol., envelope. Vigorous letter in which Céline verbally invectives certain journalists and politicians of the post-war period. [Charles DESHAYES, a 22 year-old from Lyon, had offered to defend Céline]. "Dear friend, you are quite right. I must be indignant - everything has been plundered, stolen, my books, my medicine, all my means of existence, my freedom, my woods and even my blah blah blah! This is atrocity at its best! Damned super-chained Duck! You can certainly go ahead and write about this trifle! And quote my letter if you hear it... Ah for the Herriot and other Cardinals what did you expect? They are poor "employees of Opinion" well screwed up... What to ask them? Their whole life was nothing but "Put down your pants!" and "Back off!" Do they have any other sense? The best position to be well put by the Opinion: to make Caliban come. And then to suck him well still and to reconsucerate him! not to lose a drop of it. They are gulps - unfortunate at the moment, what anguish! Is Molotov better limbed than Truman? Which way to go? Party in the sense of marriage always with bedding, ecstasies etc. That they don't give a damn about my business... Busy as they are remaking their assholes. So many times already..."... Letters to Charles Deshayes (1988, n° 23, inaccurate transcription).
