The motorbike we present is in the hypersports category, it pushes all the limits by combining both lightness and exceptional performance. Its Twin Superquadro engine can exceed 200 hp. To achieve this level of efficiency and supersonic revs, the valves are made of titanium and the block is fitted with special pistons from the Superbike. But what fully justifies the name of this Ducati is the frenzy of the engineers to lighten the maximum of parts to reach a record weight of 155 kg dry! A hard work that allows this diva to be lighter than a Moto GP prototype. The frame for example, as well as the rims, are not made of aluminium but of magnesium. The fairing and the rear loop, which supports a self-supporting seat, are made of carbon. This is a new technique for a production bike, which is usually seen in top-level competition. In addition to the valves, titanium is used for the entire exhaust system and the Öhlins shock spring. Integral to a high-end bike, the Swedish manufacturer also takes care of the fork, which has fully machined forks. The braking system, meanwhile, is entrusted to Italian specialist Brembo. The fully digital instrument panel is a feast of information, while the rider can choose between different riding modes, power modes and set all the necessary assistances to control the beast. In 2014, Ducati went beyond the fantasy by releasing the 1199 Superleggera, a limited edition of 500 bikes for wealthy enthusiasts.
Lighter than its MotoGP, more powerful and more expensive than its Desmosedici RR, more exceptional than any other machine in production, this hypersport is a true piece of silverware and a superb technological showcase. Our example is number 198/500 and was purchased in 2014 from the Ducati dealership in Montpellier for €65,000. It is now in new condition and has only 5 km on the clock. It comes with all its documentation and its original race kit.
