PORTUGUESE BED IN PALISSANDER WOOD The bedstead, mounted at the bottom, rests on turned baluster feet. The bedside is openwork with twisted columns, arranged in registers crowned by a curvilinear pediment. 18th century H: 177 cm Length: 201 cm Width: 150 cm This type of bed called "cama de bilros" is classic in Portugal. The wood of rosewood or "jacaranda" allows a play of nuances on polished surfaces and lends itself to turning, a technique in which the Portuguese craftsmen excel.
