Biography : Armand René Soucanye de LANDEVOISIN He was part of the expedition of India in 1803, under the orders of general Charles-Mathieu-Isidore Decaen, and took part in all the campaigns of the First Empire. The 12th division commanded by General Louis Partouneaux, to which Landevoisin belonged, moved from Smolensk to Mstsislav, further south, to serve as a reserve for the Grand Army, and then was used as a rear guard to protect the passage of the Berezina River from Platow and Wittgenstein's troops. It was during this terrible episode that Landevoisin was captured: he remained several months in captivity before being able to return to France. He spent 13 months as a prisoner in Siberia and was called in 1815 to the command of the Oise legion, which later became the 30th of Line. He was created a baron by order of March 2, 1816.5 This is an unfinished title because the letters patent were not withdrawn. He led this regiment in the Spanish campaign of 1823. Commander of the Legion of Honor and Knight of the Order of Saint-Ferdinand, Colonel de Landevoisin retired to Laval. He died at the Château d'Auvillers on January 21, 1864. His funeral took place at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Laval on January 25, 1864.
